Residents of Battersea High Street have been successful in having a sign installed to indicate an emergency access road opposite Thomas's Battersea.

Battersea High Street Residents Association tweeted: "Voilà, our new sign is up! Big, Bright & to the point. After politely talking to some drivers we've noticed regulars who park there have taken onboard our concerns and are avoiding parking there Long may it last. Thanks @wandbc, parking team & drivers for listening."

Earlier this week BHSRA called out Wandsworth Council on Twitter after waiting almost a year for the sign.

Since the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 there have been increasing concerns over fires in high rise buildings.

The emergency access point belongs to Humphrey Court and is frequently blocked by parents dropping off and picking up their children at school.

Aside from fire safety concerns it is also makes it dangerous for residents to exit the estate as their line of sight is blocked.

Historically Thomas's had a large internal car park but this was converted into a playground, leading to congestion each morning and afternoon.

The school has plans to expand into the Royal Academy of Dance behind and residents hope there will be provisions for parents to drop off their children within school bounds, rather than adding pressure to the road network in the surrounding area.
