Revised bus route to Riverside Quarter begins in Wandsworth this March
Residents living in Wandsworth's Riverside Quarter will be able to access bus services more easily later this month when the 485 route is extended to their neighbourhood.
From March 25 the 485 route will attend three new bus stops in the housing development, serving thousands of people who live in Riverside Quarter.
The 485 travels between Wandsworth Town Centre and the southern approach to Hammersmith Bridge, via Barnes, offering passengers a route towards Hammersmith Broadway with its Piccadilly, District, Circle and Hammersmith & City tube services. It also stops at the popular London Wetlands Centre.
The extension has been welcomed by Wandsworth's Cabinet Member for Transport Clare Fraser.
She said: "This is good news for residents living in the Riverside Quarter who will soon be able to access a local bus service much closer to their homes than before. Extending the route will provide a decent public transport link to Wandsworth town centre, Hammersmith and other areas of Putney, including the High Street and will be particularly useful for older residents or those with a disability.
"We hope that this new service will encourage residents to make the switch to public transport away from cars and help support our Future Streets Strategy which promotes public transport improvements and better active travel options across our borough."
Transport for London says it will closely monitor the revised route to ensure it meets the needs of Riverside Quarter residents and those living further afield. It has pledged to "keep these changes under review to ensure we continue to offer the best service we can".
