Nutbourne Restaurant & Bar is set to close after six years being one of Battersea's best kept secrets

A popular Battersea restaurant will permanently close at the end of the year, taking with it one of the most picturesque places to dine in the neighbourhood.

Nutbourne Restaurant, one of Battersea's best kept secrets, has earned itself a devoted coterie of customers thanks to its farm-to-fork ethos of seasonal, sustainable produce and the delightful team who, headed by General Manger, Abel, welcome patrons, new and regular, as old friends.

Opened in 2016 by brothers Richard, Oliver and Gregory Gladwin as the third venture in their Local & Wild restaurant group - their first, The Shed, opened in Notting Hill in 2012, joined two years later by Rabbit, on the Kings Road - Nutbourne proved as intensely successful despite its relatively off-the-beaten track location.

Having recently opened The Lamb in Wimbledon, just six months after launching The Fat Badger in Richmond - and not forgetting Sussex in Soho - The Gladwin Brothers must now bid goodbye to Battersea where, Nutbourne's lease soon ending, the landlords of 29 Ransomes Dock have decided to redevelop.

Its impending closure follows that of fellow Battersea institution, Bunga Bunga, which hosted its last dance in July.

While nothing is confirmed, the Gladwin Brothers have promised to begin searching for new premises in Battersea, giving hope to residents who cherished having such a high calibre restaurant with a local 'home from home' atmosphere on their doorstep.

In a statement on the Nutbourne website, Richard, Oliver and the restaurant team said they were sad to announce the upcoming closure and thanked patrons for their loyal custom.

They said: "We have had a great 6 years at this lovely site in Ransoms Dock but our lease is ending and the Landlords have decided to redevelop.

"In the New year you can of course still visit us at Rabbit just over the river in Kings Road and in the future, we will be searching for the right premises to bring our unique style of Local & Wild food back to Battersea.

"We really hope to see you at Nutbourne over the next few weeks in the build up to Christmas- help us finish this wonderful atmospheric restaurant on a high!"

Visit the Gladwin Brothers website for more information on its Nutbourne's sister restaurants elsewhere in London.
