New Covent Garden Market is today celebrating World Environment Day.

A day organised by the United Nations to encourage awareness and action that protects the environment, the wholesale market in Nine Elms said it marked the day while continuing to "strive for a more sustainable future".

New Covent Garden Market said: "Today we celebrate World Environment Day.

"Our beautiful garden, at the entrance of the market, features the amazing greenery from our tenants at the Flower Market.

"Also featuring nine elm trees, donated by The Worshipful Company of Fruiterers and planted by leading tree nursery Frank P Matthews Ltd. last year to commemorate the Livery Company's visit to the Market as well as mark Nine Elms being London's newest borough."
