The local community has been asked to contribute to a new 'Night Time Strategy' being drafted by Wandsworth Council.
What is life like at night in your neighbourhood?
In efforts to ensure Wandsworth is an attractive destination for socialising, arts and culture, work, sport and dining, the Council is developing a 'Night Time Strategy'.
To make this a meaningful document - with influence over how the council plans for safety, design, lighting and transport at night - residents have been asked to comment on what life is like during night time.
An interactive map allows residents to pinpoint specific areas of the borough they occupy at night - for home, work or socialising purposes - and detail problems they have experienced, improvements they would like to see, and positive aspects about the area.
"This could include concerns about street drinking, lighting or transport, or perhaps praise for things that are working well such as a strong sense of community, or suggestions for new late opening coffee shops," a spokesperson for Wandsworth Council said.
"The findings will be used to provide recommendations and support for our town and local centres to ensure they are vibrant, resilient, and safe, and help businesses to continue to recover from the pandemic and beyond."
The map has received 652 responses so far, 360 of which are unique comments that span all areas of Wandsworth.
Deputy council leader Cllr Kemi Akinola said: "We want to make sure people feel safe in our town centres. Many people work at night, including NHS workers, cleaners and carers, and we want to support them. It's also important that town centres are as vibrant and resilient as possible, and that there are plenty of opportunities to socialise, eat and drink and enjoy arts and culture.
"It's a complex jigsaw of issues and we want to hear from as many people as possible. This stage is all about looking at the details of each area and making sure we get a clear picture of how people experience the night time in Wandsworth. That way we can focus on the areas and the issues that people have told us matter most to them."
