A new café opens at Battersea Park Children's Zoo this weekend.

Opened in 1951 and bolstered with support from the Heap family after it was threatened with closure in 2003, the Children's Zoo and its residents are a beloved feature of Battersea Park.

While Battersea Park has no shortage of spots to pause for refreshment, nearby establishments such as Pear Tree café become particularly crowded at this time of year, making a dedicated Zoo Café a welcome addition to visitors seeking peace and calm.

A spokesperson for Battersea Park Children's Zoo said: "The wait is almost over! We are so excited to announce that our brand new Zoo Cafe will be opening to all visitors on Saturday 17th June 2023!

"Our new zoo eatery provides a fresh and relaxing space to enjoy coffee, cakes and a variety of lunchtime favourites for the whole family during your visit. Comfortable seating will be available both indoors and outdoors, making for a perfect pitstop rain or shine.

"Our fabulous catering team cannot wait to welcome you all during your visit to the zoo."
