Wandsworth Council has asked residents and businesses in Battersea for contributions to its new Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (LFRMS).

The LFRMS identifies local flood risk and includes a six-year Action Plan of how the council and other agencies increase resilience to flooding in the local area.

Impermeable surfacing in the borough of Wandsworth, which is largely urban, prevents sufficient infiltration during intense rainfall events.

Battersea felt the impact of this in the summer of 2021 after hot, dry weather followed by high magnitude rainfall culminated in flash floods.

Wandsworth Council, which last published a flood risk strategy in 2015, is updating the LFRMS to incorporate work completed in the intervening period to reduce flood risk, as well as changes to water industry policy and regulation."

A spokesperson for the Council said: "It is vital that residents and businesses are able to give their feedback to ensure the plan continues to meet the needs of those who may be affected by flooding."
