After 30 years Battersea Power Station has been removed from Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register.
Battersea Power Station has stood empty for almost 40 years and it was revealed Thursday November 4 that the Art Deco building was no longer in danger of collapse.
The iconic building is one of 133 landmarks to have been rescued.
Battersea Power Station was built between 1929 and 1955 in south west London.
At its peak it was producing a fifth of London's power, supplying electricity to some of London's most recognisable landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
In 1983 the Power Station closed and ceased to generate electricity, it was then purchased by various investors who failed to achieve planning permission to convert it into a residential complex.
In 2012 the current shareholders purchased the 42-acre site for £400m and were able to achieve planning permission to create a new community of homes, shops, cafes, restaurants, cultural venues and open space for London.
Peter Murray, chair of New London Architecture told the Evening Standard: "The rescue and restoration of Battersea Power Station is a big message to all to look at a building and work out what can be done to rescue it before knocking it down."
While some residents moved into the building earlier this year, the doors to Battersea Power Station will officially open next year.
Did you know: The architect, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who was responsible for Britain's red telephone boxes was a part of the project when the Power Station was first built.
Original proposals were for the chimneys to be square rather than circular.
