Battersea's Labour MP, Marsha de Cordova, took to social media this afternoon to condemn Russia's actions in the Ukraine.

Marsha de Codorva wrote on Twitter: " I want to send solidarity to the people of Ukraine and my support for their territorial integrity.

"Putin's aggression cannot be tolerated. The UK must use every tool at its disposal to reach a diplomatic solution, with robust sanctions on Putin's allies who keep their money here."

Fears have been rising over recent months as Russia has massed some 150,000 troops along Ukraine's borders, according to US estimates.

Russia has been backing a bloody rebellion in eastern Ukraine for the past eight years.

It is estimated that 14,000 people - many being civilians - have died in fighting since then.

Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, made an hour long address to his nation Monday saying that Ukraine was an integral part of his country and described eastern Ukraine as "ancient Russian lands."
