Battersea residents can buy Christmas trees and help combat climate change this year.
Christmas tree company Pines and Needles, who open their tree shop in Battersea Park on Wednesday November 25, have teamed up with a tree-planting charity.
Earth Restoration Service and Pines and Needles aims to raise money to plant small tree nurseries in 40 schools as a part of their partnership.
Tree nurseries are areas set up within school grounds where up to 50 saplings of various native tree species are planted and raised.
The trees stay in the nursery until they are big enough to be moved and replanted outside the school in the local community and this creates new woodlands and green urban areas in London.
Earth Restoration Service aim to plant 50,000 trees and enough flowers to attract 20 million insects across 1,000 sites in the UK by 2030.
So Battersea residents can go Christmas tree shopping, knowing they are doing something good for the planet.
Veronika Kusak director of Pines and Needles said: "We've always been incredibly passionate about supporting our local communities across London and the work Earth Restoration service does is a great way for us to build on that."
The programme plays an important role in reforesting local communities and teaches the next generation about science, ecology, the environment, climate change and the importance of the natural world.
Trees can be secured here.
Or visit their shop at Battersea Park, Chelsea Car Park, Carriage Dr N, London SW11 4BE.
