A venue in Battersea beloved for its pizza menu, music events and unparalleled setting on the River Thames has been shortlisted to win 'Family Business of the Year'.

The Battersea Barge in Nine Elms today (Thursday, March 9) revealed its selection as a finalist in the prestigious Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) awards.

Established over 45 years ago to campaign for and support the 5.8 million small businesses in the UK, the FSB launched its annual Small Business awards to celebrate the achievements and contributions of these organisations which, accounting for 99.3 per cent of all private sector businesses in the UK, form the backbone of local and national economies.

Selected by a panel of business experts who judge entrants regionally, the 1930s Dutch barge moored at Tamesis Docks will now compete against other family-run businesses in London later this month.

Following this, if crowned the best family business in London, Battersea Barge will be invited to the UK final in Birmingham, along with winners from eleven other regions, one of whom will be recognised as the best family business nationally.

A spokesperson for Battersea Barge said: "We're thrilled to be a London finalist in the 'Family Business of the Year' category of the Federation of Small Businesses - FSB Awards.

"A big thank you to the FSB and to all our amazing team & customers for being a part of the Tamesis family."
