A pub in Battersea beloved by locals is still on the market more than six months after it was put up for sale by JD Wetherspoons.

The Asparagus is available for £2,000,000 through property agent Savills following a "commercial decision" by Wetherspoons to divest itself of 32 pubs across the UK.

Named after the crop Battersea was renowned for producing when, during the nineteenth century, market gardens dominated the 300 acres area, The Asparagus opened as a Wetherspoons in 1998.

Comprising more than 6,000 square feet with an outside patio space that covers 70 customers, the pub occupies an enviable trade position in west Battersea.

On the junction of Falcon Road and Battersea Park Road, the prominent main road location where Clapham Junction Rail Station is just 0.4 miles to its south gives The Asparagus a commercial advantage over nearby pubs which, while popular amongst locals, cannot leverage such heavy footfall to their businesses.

Significant redevelopment potential and a premises licence that permits the sale of alcohol until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays add to its commercial attraction.

On its website, Savills says the large prominent public house sits amidst an area mixed with "residential and commercial occupiers with nearby occupiers including Greggs, Sainsbury's and Papa Johns".

It says: "The Asparagus comprises the ground, basement and part first floor of an end of terrace building under a mansard roof. To the side elevation is an external trade patio for approximately 70 customers.

"Ground Floor: Trading accommodation with bar servery to the rear and seating on a mix of loose tables, chairs and booths. Ancillary accommodation includes a disabled WC and trade kitchen.

"Basement: Beer cellar, manager's office, staff room and stores. First Floor: Ladies and gentlemen's WC's."
