Work is underway to refurbish the Shillington Park junior and toddler playground and outdoor gym in Battersea,

The refurbished playground will include brand new play equipment for younger children, including swings, a roundabout, a multiplay activity tower, a village shop playhouse and junior exercise trail.

Adults and older children will be able to use an upgraded outdoor gym with a new air walker, cross trainer, back and abs bench, resistant training poles and step boxes.

The new equipment items were selected for Shillington Park by local people during a public consultation which offered three different layout and equipment choices.

Refurbishing the Battersea playground is expected to take around eight weeks, allowing the community to enjoy the new Shillington Park throughout spring.

Cabinet member for environment Judi Gasser said: "This is good news for residents and families in this part of Battersea.

"This exciting new-look playground should be very popular with younger children while adults can keep fit and healthy by exercising on the upgraded outdoor gym equipment.

"We'd like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation for helping us choose the final design."
