Nominations are now open for this year's Wandsworth Women's Enterprise Awards.

The awards celebrate the borough's top female business leaders in six categories: Entrepreneur of the year, Best Green Business, Best Charity/social enterprise, High Street Hero, Rising Star and Made in Wandsworth (for creatives).

A panel of judges will choose the winner from nominated businesses, except for High Street Hero which will be chosen by local people.

The winners will be announced at the ninth annual Women's Enterprise Day on March 29 at the Thames Rowing Club, Putney Embankment.

The day will include a panel discussion, motivational talks and interviews, interactive workshops and a networking lunch.

Guest speakers include:

  • Sophie Cornish – co-founder of Notonthehighstreet.com and chairman of Busby & Fox
  • April Jackson, Apprentice contestant and founder of Three Little Birds and Wood & Water restaurants
  • Marie Callan – founder of URBAG
  • Isabel Chapman – founder of Power to Connect

The event is run by Wandsworth Council's business support team to give female entrepreneurs in the borough access to business advice and the opportunity to connect and build networks with like-minded women.

Deputy council leader Kemi Akinola will be attending. She said: "I'm looking forward to meeting some incredible and talented women from Wandsworth. Come along to grow your networks and learn from others on how to start and expand your business."
