Metropolitan Police officer admits to secretly filming woman in Wandsworth fitting room
A Metropolitan Police officer has admitted he secretly filmed a woman as she tried on clothes in a fitting room at Primark in Wandsworth.
PC Swaleh Chaudry was arrested in Wandsworth on Wednesday after he used his mobile phone to upskirt the complainant at the store in Southside shopping centre.
The woman looked down after she heard a rustling sound and found a device pointing up at her from the next cubicle, Wimbledon Magistrates' Court heard today (Friday, April 1).
She screamed: "Are you recording me?", to which a voice replied: "No", and left the fitting room to tell her boyfriend what had happened.
Police were called and while Chaudry, 36, was in custody officers searched his home in Wandsworth where they found a library of horrific child abuse images, the court heard.
Among more than 1,000 Category B and C indecent images of children uncovered at his residence were at least 52 images of the most serious kind, the court was told.
Officers also found "various videos of the defendant upskirting…and the videos actually show the defendant's face", prosecutor Suleman Hussain told the court.
He added: "It is anticipated the defendant will be charged with further offences."
Chaudhry was attached to the Met's Taskforce and has been suspended.
He appeared in the dock today and pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism, one count of possession of extreme pornography and three counts of making indecent images of children.
Defending Chaudhry, Robert Morris told the court his client had "pleaded guilty indicating his acceptance of responsibility".
He also said Chaudry was "keen to try and seek help to deal with his problem" with voyeurism.
The case has been sent to Kingston Crown Court for sentencing on a date yet to be fixed.
