Man, 27, charged with murder of Battersea resident

A man has been charged with the murder of a Battersea resident.

Police were called to an address in Juniper Drive on Tuesday (May 23) after concerns were raised for the welfare of its occupant, Peter Sisson.

Peter, 60, was found inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

A special post-mortem which took place on Thursday (May 25) did not establish a formal cause of his death. Further tests will be conducted.

Detectives leading the investigation subsequently charged Paulo Mendes, 27, with Peter's murder.

The Met said: "Paulo Mendes, 27 (15.04.96) of no fixed address was charged on Sunday, 28 May with the murder of Peter Sisson.

"He will appear in custody at a magistrates' court on Monday, 29 May.

"Police were called on Tuesday, 23 May after concerns were raised for the welfare of an occupant of an address in Juniper Drive, SW18.

"Officers attended – inside the address they found 60-year-old Peter Sisson. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

"A special post-mortem took place on Thursday, 25 May – no formal cause of death was established and further tests will be carried out.

"Due to the circumstances, detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.
