A cash machine scam on St John's Road is among a litany of crimes local police scuppered over the festive period.

It was during a routine patrol around Battersea on New Year's Eve that Lavender and Northcote police officers spotted a device installed on the SW11 cash point.

Attempts to withdraw cash would appear unsuccessful when the machine failed to dispense money. In fact, the device attached to the machine was retaining the cash for its installer to return and steal.

No such luck for this London criminal thanks to the Lavender and Northcote ward officers on patrol.

Work to reduce drug related anti-social behaviour in Battersea is ongoing. Patrols and weapon sweeps conducted throughout December unearthed knives and led to two arrests, meanwhile today (6 January), officers seized a quantity of drugs.
