Wandsworth will host its next Mega Skip Day this Saturday (December 10) at five locations around the borough.

They are usually on the last Saturday of the month, but this month will be on the second Saturday in order to give residents a chance to get rid of their bulky waste before Christmas.

Mega Skip Days are now being held in Wandsworth every month. Usually there is a charge for bulky waste collections, but you can take up to six items along to the mega skip nearest to you for FREE, including some electrical equipment and household items like mattresses and sofas.

Mega Skips are part of council efforts to deter flytipping. Last week the council also agreed to buy another eight CCTV cameras for flytipping hotspots.

Cllr Judi Gasser, cabinet member for the environment, said: "We are putting the skips in different locations around the borough each month and this month are putting them in areas of the Dover House Estate and West Hill Ward that were specifically requested by local residents. If you know an area that would benefit from one, email me at [email protected]."

Mega Skip Day

Wandsworth is limiting the number of items you can bring to no more than six items per household so that everyone has a chance to make use of the skips.
