Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) has been named on Fast Company's annual list of the World's Most Innovative Companies.

Derelict for nearly 40 years, after a careful eight-year restoration the Grade II* listed Power Station opened to the public for the first time in October 2022.

In including BPSDC in its prestigious list for 2023, Fast Company has recognised the historic restoration of an iconic landmark into a riverside retail and leisure destination to be enjoyed for decades to come.

As well as making it on the list, the development company was also awarded first place in the Urban Development and Real Estate Category.

"Once known as the 'Everest of Real Estate', we're honoured to receive this wider recognition and to appear as the number one in this is fantastic," said Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Battersea Power Station.

Murphy added: "Sat derelict for nearly forty years and after several failed attempts by previous owners, many said it was impossible however through the commitment of our shareholders and various stakeholders, we have brought the Grade II* listed landmark back to life and have welcomed over three million visitors to the neighborhood since.

"The opening has already boosted the local economy, creating over 2,500 jobs through the many shops, restaurants, offices and leisure venues opening here, as well as providing a new destination for London."

Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan said: "What a strange and thrilling year it has been to honor this year's Most Innovative Companies. This year's list compiles some of the most cutting-edge groundbreakers who are changing our world every single day, from legacy organizations like McDonald's to upstarts like MrBeast and institutions such as NASA. Everyone on this list does something completely, uniquely different, yet, they all have one thing in common: innovation."
