Battersea Power Station light festival on now

By Lexi Iles 18th Jan 2022

Battersea Power Station's Light Festival 2022 has arrived and promises to brighten up your dreary January walks.

It's been less than ten days since the Nine Elms Advent Calendar closed and already there's a new installation to enjoy on your doorstep.

Between January, 13 and February, 27 visitors are encouraged to walk the trail and take in the beautiful installations curated in partnership with the Light Art Collection and founded by the Amsterdam Light Festival.

Two of the festival's installations, Antenna Sud and Picto Sender Machine are making their UK debut, and Run Beyond will be on display for the very first time in London.

The installation includes six pieces from artists around the world:

- Run Beyond by Angelo Bonello

- Digital Origami Tigers by LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture)

- Antenna Sud by Michela Bonzi

- Greenhouse by Victor Engbers

- Picto Sender Machine by Felipe Prado

- Eternal Sundown by Mads Vegas Each installation uses light in a different way to convey a different message. Run Beyond is about taking a leap of faith and the power of imagination, whilst Greenhouse defies science. Picto Sender Machine encourages visitors to express themselves in the simplest and most instinctive way. Eternal Sundown reflects on the climate crisis and Antenna Sud brings antenna back into the urban landscape but this time emitting light rather than radio waves. Finally Digital Origami Tigers started their journey around the world in 2010 to celebrate Chinese New Year in Sydney and will now light up in front of Battersea Power Station, seeing in the Year of the Tiger on February 1, 2022. Use the trail map during your visit to ensure you see all the installations. You can visit for free now, just head to the power station. Got a story?
