A Remembrance Service was carried out in Battersea Park this morning at 10:45am.

MP Marsha de Cordova, the Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Richard Field and the Council Leader Ravi Govindia were in attendance and lay wreaths.

The sun shone down on the attendees as Canon Simon Butler and Reverend Joe Moore from St Mary's Church Battersea began the service with a greeting, followed by a hymn.

Cllr Field then addressed the crowd, remembering those soldiers who had given their lives in the First World War.

Leader Govindia also gave a speech about the importance of Armistice Day.

Following the Act of Remembrance a trumpet sounded the last post before silence fell for two minutes at 11am.

Prayers were said before representatives were called forward to lay their wreaths at the base of Eric Kennington's statue, which is dedicated to the service of the 24th (London) Division during the First World War.

The crowd were then led in prayer by the minister and another hymn was sung, some children stepped forward to give a reading before the national anthem was sung and an act of commitment was read with a "we will" response from the congregation.

The service was ended with a blessing.
