Get your neighbours together in the sunshine and throw a party for free as Wandsworth is waiving all fees and charges for anyone organising a street party to celebrate this year's Platinum Jubilee.

This year the nation will be marking the Queen's 70 years of service with a four-day bank holiday from June 2-5.

This is the perfect opportunity for communities to get together to celebrate and reflect with friends and neighbours.

Ten years ago Battersea was at the centre of celebrations with the Queen kicking off the royal flotilla from Cadogan Pier next to Albert Bridge.

Wandsworth council is waiving the usual £60 fee associated with organising a street party for anyone making arrangements for their street or neighbourhood during May or June.

The council has advised that organisers will need to complete an online form to apply for road closure and to fulfil the legal requirements.

This will need to be done with a minimum of four to six weeks notice to give engineers time to organise for the road to be legally closed.

Residents will need to bear in mind that main roads, roads on the bus route or any red routes which Transport for London control, cannot be closed.

It is expected that Wandsworth residents will hold a large number of street parties with them being some of the most enthusiastic in London.

Fees were also waived in 2018 when Prince Harry got married and a record number of 74 parties were held.

You can find out more via Wandsworth Council's website or email [email protected] for advice.
