Finalists in the running to win at the annual Active Wandsworth Awards have been announced.

The Active Wandsworth Awards is one of the major highlights in the local sporting calendar.

Founded to recognise and reward the achievements of local sports people, clubs and teams, the event also celebrates the dedication of local coaches, volunteers and organisations.

The Active Wandsworth Awards has in its 25 year history recognised hundreds of exceptional local athletes including England rugby star Kyle Sinckler and Olympic athletes Katie Snowden and Steph Davis.

Hosted this year by Sky Sports News presenter, Emma Paton, special guests at the event will include Commonwealth beach volleyball medallists Javier and Joaquin Bello. 

Several awards account for volunteers and community organisations that not only provide traditional playing opportunities, but also through sport, support people who have experienced inequalities and barriers.

Wandsworth's cabinet member for the environment Judi Gasser, said: "I am very much looking forward to seeing this year's nominees in what is likely to be an amazing ceremony on March 3.

"All on the shortlist are very much deserving of their nomination across the ten awards.  Now, more than ever, sport and physical activity play an important part in all our lives and to recognise everyone, from the talented athlete to the amazing coaches and volunteers who make it happen, is so important."

The Active Wandsworth Awards are produced and delivered by Enable in partnership with Wandsworth Council.
