A unique opportunity is available for a recent graduate or postgraduate to gain professional development experience working in a Battersea art gallery team.

Now in its 14th year, the Stanley Picker Traineeship opens the doors to Matt's Gallery through a part time role of two days per week spanning five months.

Previous candidates with an interest in Matt's Gallery, knowledge of the visual arts and a desire to develop within a professional gallery environment have benefitted from the traineeship which, funded by the Stanley Picker Trust, provides a bursary of £4,015.20.

This year, the Stanley Picker Trainee will support Matt's Gallery as it delivers an open ended, vibrant and responsive programme of exhibitions and projects with artists including Nicola Ealing, Mike Nelson, Jennet Thomas, Carolyn Thompson and Michelle Williams Gamaker.

In a call to applicants, Matt's Gallery said it "will prioritise applications from candidates from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, currently underrepresented in the Arts sector".

It added: "Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge of the visual arts, an aptitude for research, as well as strong administrative, communication and organisational skills."

The application deadline is Sunday, February 19, 2023.
